You Don’t Need a Cap and Gown to Begin Again

This weekend, I watched my nephew Zach graduate.
I thought I’d be proud—of course I was—but what caught me off guard was how emotional it felt.
There’s something about a graduation.
The hope. The courage. The quiet belief that something new is possible.
And it made me wonder:
Why do we only associate new beginnings with the young?
Here’s the truth:
Fresh starts aren’t reserved for 18-year-olds.
They’re for anyone bold enough to take one.
-
Vera Wang didn’t enter fashion until she was 40.
-
Samuel L. Jackson’s breakout role came at 46.
-
Ray Kroc started McDonald’s at 52.
-
Laura Ingalls Wilder published her first book at 65.
You don’t need a ceremony to turn the page.
You don’t need permission to reinvent.
You just need a little courage—and a willingness to bet on yourself.
So here’s what I’m sitting with this Monday morning:
What if today is your next beginning?
What if the most extraordinary part of your story isn’t behind you… but ahead?
Whatever you’re building, dreaming, or becoming—
You’re right on time.
